Weighted Flap Valve

1. Overview

The Weighted Flap Valve (Counterweight Flap Valve) is a passive gravity-type ash discharge and air lock valve, upgraded based on standard flap valve structure. Different from electric/pneumatic active valves and ordinary lightweight flap valves, this valve adopts external adjustable counterweight blocks to control the opening pressure of the internal flap plate. It automatically opens for discharging when material gravity exceeds counterweight tension, and closes tightly by counterweight reset after material discharging. It requires no electric power, no complex control system, and maintains long-term stable air locking under negative/positive pressure environments. It is the most cost-effective airlock discharge equipment for dust removal systems, thermal power ash hoppers and high-temperature bulk material pipelines.

2. Working Principle

The valve body is installed vertically at the material discharge port. The internal sealing flap plate is connected with external adjustable counterweight blocks through a lever mechanism. Under normal conditions, the counterweight tension keeps the flap tightly closed to isolate air pressure inside and outside the pipeline. When bulk materials accumulate on the flap plate and the gravity exceeds the set counterweight force, the flap automatically swings downward to open and discharge materials. After material discharge is completed, the unbalanced counterweight resets the flap instantly to seal the passage, preventing air backflow, dust leakage and system pressure loss, realizing fully automatic intermittent discharging without external power.
