1.Overview

The U-Type Screw Conveyor, also known as the U-trough screw conveyor, is a conventional and reliable continuous conveying device. Different from tubular screw conveyors, it adopts an open U-shaped trough body with a mounted helical screw blade inside. Driven by a geared motor, the rotating screw pushes bulk materials axially from the inlet to the discharge outlet. Thanks to its open trough design, this model provides easier access for inspection, cleaning and maintenance, making it the preferred choice for frequent material switching and sanitary-sensitive production lines.

2. Working Principle

The drive unit powers the central screw shaft with welded helical flights. As the screw rotates, material inside the U-trough is propelled forward by the blade friction without backward slipping. The open trough ensures full contact between the screw and materials, achieving stable, uniform and low-resistance conveying. It supports horizontal operation and inclined conveying up to 20° for flexible layout arrangement.
